The additional thing is that each ship has a commander. Personally, I think its just too difficult to balance some of these ships in a game thats got hundreds to thousands of permutations and a playerbase that loves to follow the meta. Cynical people say its because Wargaming uses them as a cash grab, release an overpowered ship to bring in buyers then balance it later (it is a free to play title after all). They normally aren't overpowered overall, but they almost always suffer from 're-balancing' upon release. Premium ships are typically based on historical one-offs or particularly notable ships. The combat missions are almost all Tier V or above, and random play (the core of the game) in tier I-IV is often populated by bots that's fine when you're starting but you wouldn't go back to playing a Tier III premium after being in Tier V+. A Tier-III premium cruiser is basically a nothing. If you haven't played before and therefore don't have an account, I'd wait to get into it when the free premium sponsorships come around. The premium subscription does speed up your advancement, every now and then there is a raft of sponsorships of youtube/twitch channels which give free premium for new accounts. Its fun, the game can get a bit grindy when you are getting near the top tiers of ships (it goes from tier I-X). Hit me up on DM if you do sign up and want some in game advice or through Discord. If you do, the best actual purchase you can make is premium time (cuts the grind aspect by about ~40% or so) and anything on top of that can be a bonus. It's also become markedly more predatory with the in-game purchase stuff over the last 2 years since I started, some of the regular offerings are straight up whale traps now.īest advice I can give you is sign up, give it a try for a week or two and you'll get a feel for whether you like it or not. Progress is up to you F2P is definitely feasible, but the more advanced game modes definitely benefit from the paid, premium ships which take a loooooooong time to earn in game if you aren't paying cash and if you're just starting now and the rest of your clan is doing it, you're going to feel left out until you get something you can compete with. Love it for the social aspect, I have a great Aussie clan I'm part of. More hours than I care to share on it, started 2 years ago.
